Dues Increase.
Our last dues increase was in 1993, but postage and printing costs have forced us to raise our dues.
Institutional memberships (genealogical and historical socities, libraries and museums) are still just $15, but Annual dues for individuals is now $20 per calendar year.
Contributing memberships are $25 and Life Memberships are now $250.
Effective 1-Jan-2008.

Details.
Bluegrass Roots Editor, Landon Wills, dies at 81.
These are sad days at the KGS. Our beloved friend passed away on 14 May 98, at
home, after an illness of two months. He is survived by his wife, Ilene Blake
Wills, and six sons. His body was donated to the University of Kentucky. A
memorial service was held at Berry Hill Mansion at 2pm, Saturday, 23 May 98,
and was attended by a large gathering of family and friends, a number of whom
stood and gave touching comments about this special man. A special article
on Landon appeared in the Summer 98 issue of Bluegrass Roots.
KGS loses four valued members.
Roy Wood, Frankfort, passed away on 9Nov97. He and his wife, Joyce, were
longtime members and helped in many ways. Roy and Joyce helped with some of the
Annual Seminars, and provided refreshments for some the KGS Monthly
meetings.
Paul Tanner, Frankfort passed away in Dec 97. Mr Tanner compiled the booklet on
Toll Roads of Northern Kentucky and had contributed a number of articles to
Bluegrass Roots.
William Hoffman, Kenton Co, passed away 11Jan98. Mr Hoffman published a
huge book on Kenton Co public records, had compiled the 1890 Tax List for Kenton
Co, and a number of other projects. He was elected as a Board Member at Large for
98, but sadly we will not get to see what he might have done in that
capacity.
W. Garnett Johnson, Frankfort, died 23Jan98. Mr Johnson was a key figure in the
KGS and had many correspondents. See the web page on the KGS 1997 Seminar for
more info on Mr Johnson.
These gentlemen will be sorely missed by family and friends and our hearts go
out to their families.
