KGS News
Ramona Slattery, for her work on the cemetery books we've published over the years.   Her efforts in locating the graveyards and typing up the data has been oh so useful to many genealogists.

Also in these efforts were; the late Elsie Butler, Bettie Wells, and Helen and Louise Sutherland, and the late Wilena Cinnamond who was an early KGS President.   Elsie, Ramona, Helen, Louise, Bill and Doris Gill, and Bobby and Opal Brown have also helped with the Grove Hill cemetery.

Helen and Louise Sutherland, and William Bowers, for keying the names of the deceased from the Frankfort State-Journal (see other web page). And Ruby Aubrey for clipping and saving these for so many years.

Life Member, Mary Doyle Johnson, for so many things over the years, but especially for helping to maintain the KGS Library and adding things for our vertical files, and assisting with the Annual Seminar.

Donna Stark, originally from Trimble Co, and well known for her work in preserving genealogy in that and adjacent counties, served on the Board several times and worked on the Annual Seminar more than once.   Donna donated her books to KGS in 2010 and we'll be offering those for sale.

KGS Chart Member, Mary Jane Rodgers, who was Corresponding Secretary for a number of the early years and who diligently answered each letter, often by the next day.   Mary Jane has served as President and Board Member almost from the beginning in 1973 and has been Chair of Annual Seminar more than once.

Mike Watson, Bluegrass Roots Editor 1999-2010.   Mike, a native of Adair County and well versed in the families of central Kentucky, worked quietly behind the scenes in producing our quarterly, all the while producing some books of his own and with others, and publishing his very own fine periodical, Adair Co Review.   We wish Mike well in retirement.

Last, but certainly not least, special thanks to Roberta Padgett, another KGS Chart Member who served as our longtime KGS Librarian til 1999 when our library was donated to the Ky Historical Society. Roberta served on the KGS Board and was Annual Seminar Chair many times.   She was Corresponding Secretary from 2000-2010 and has done lots of behind the scenes work for the group, including the keying of the book reviews for Bluegrass Roots. Roberta retired in 2011 and we will remember her always.
