![]() Rebel News September 2008 The September meeting was held at the home of Dwayne and Linda Holder. Dianne Marsh’s Brother and Sister-In-Law, Sammy and Faye, visited with us. You’ve heard of tornado chasers, well they were hurricane runners. What a way to end our summer get-to-gathers—we ladies were talking shopping and girl talk, the guys were “B.S.’ing and we had lots of yummy food. Thanks Linda and Dwayne for hosting. Winchester Car Show-Tony, Tony, Danny, Greg and Smith attended. They all trophied, Greg in his Prowler, Tony M. in his Caddie and Danny, Smith and Tony W. in their Vettes. Danny was devastated though-he said they had the best hog dog chillie and they ran out! The show was a benefit for Youth Ministries and a backpack program. Thompson-Hood Veterans Center - This was not a show but a gathering to honor the veterans that reside there. We had 7 cars participating including Bill Kelly. Even though Kaye says that White Vettes never trophy, Danny took home a trophy as one of the people’s choice cars. Way to go Danny. Thanks to all of those that participated in this event to show appreciation for our service men and women. Labor Day Week-end at the Corvette Museum - I’m not sure if this was good or bad. All I really know is that Tony M. and Don and Judy attended. Caravan in 2009-You can start booking rooms now. Kaye is doing her best to get more details; like if we are going to hook up with the Ohio group. If they come through Lexington, they want us to secure a facility that can accommodate around 500 cars, provide food and have restroom facilities available. Kaye has a contact at Keeneland. Tony M. is going to try and book 10 rooms so be thinking if you want to be involved in this event next year. Effingham-For those going to Effingham, meet at the Shell Station in Frankfort at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept 19th. Karl Shannon Show-Sept 20th at Rupp Area parking lot. This is a great show for a great cause. Proceeds benefit the St. Jude Children’s Hospital. October 3rd-Vette Fest in Gattlinburg October 4th-Octoberfest-Admission is $15.00 per person. This is also for a good cause-Cancer Center or Cancer Society. You can meet at Kaye and Danny’s house if you want to drive over together. Corvette Expo-Oct 16/17th. Greg has 10 rooms reserved. Ron Banta has been talking with friends that are Chevrolet Dealers in the area about sponsoring the club since the demise of Jeff Sachs. It was decided that the officers would meet with the management of Jeff Jones Chevrolet in Cynthiana/Versailles and see what they have to offer and let them know what we can do for them. More info will follow. This does not mean that we are picking up another sponsor-just exploring our options. Thanks Ron for checking into this. Christmas Party - All were in agreement to have at Cousins in Harrodsburg. Martha Lynn will check on the date. Our next meeting will be held at Columbia’s Restaurant on Limestone on October 2nd at 7:00. All they ask is that we eat in exchange for their meeting facilities. September Birthdays: Lucy Blankenship 9/22 Big Smith 9/20 Let’s remember Lucy in our prayers. She is having some health issues that are keeping her and Gary from attending meetings and events. We miss you guys!!! Just received this information late Tuesday afternoon. Judy Courtney’s brother passed away Tuesday morning. Let’s remember Judy and her family in our prayers. As always, if you have an event you would like to sponsor or know of an activity you would like for the club to participate in-let Tony or Tony know. We are always open for suggestions.
