Our May meeting was held at Jeff Sachs in Frankfort with dinner following at Jim’s Seafood. Chester, we know that you and Patsy have some health issues going on and we are so glad that you decided to join us again this year. You know I lost Greg for awhile. I found him but now I’ve lost Juanita! Where are you Juanita? We miss you!!

Our sympathy and prayers go out to Dwayne Holder and his family. Dwayne’s Step-Father passed away on April 21st. Sorry we didn’t know about it until after the services, Dwayne. It was good to have Diana and Greg back and see that they are much improved. Danny is improving.

It was a nasty week-end again this year and the Makers Mark trip was called off. Some of our members went to the Friday night event and had a lot of fun. Seems like that might be the event we need to attend next year. We did go to the Leeds Theatre for the Doo Whop Concert. Those guys performed the entire concert accapello and they were awesome. They made the mistake of saying that they could out heckle us so the challenge was on! (I wonder why Tony never wants to sit by me at these concerts)? By the time we were finished, they were singing “My Girl” to us in the lobby. Some of our girls got on stage to dance with them. Kaye needed a rum boost but she finally got on the beat. As usual, we had lots of fun.

On April 26th, about 10 of us went to the Pre-Derby party in Paris. The food was awesome and it was so much fun listening to the Torques. They sure have gotten old though. Steve Cauthin was there. He’s the jockey that won the Triple Crown when he was only about 18 or 19 years old. He’s gotten old too. Oh Man, that means I’m old too!!! (But I know what to do with hair color) When we were but teens we used to dance to the music of the Torques at Carnaby, The Aquatic Club and for proms and sock hops. Well by gosh, it took me until I was over 50 but I got to meet Phil Copeland and dance and sing with him and unbeknownst to me, Big Smith went to school with him and he even sang a Mag 7 (that was a rival band) song because he and Smith were fellow magnets whatever that means. He told everyone to come up and sing with them and that’s all it took for Kaye, Wanda Hunt and I to go up and sing and dance our little hearts out. I’m telling you that you’ve got to watch Wanda, that girl has got some moves and can she ever walk the dog! Big Smith was very gracious and danced with Kaye since Danny is still out of commission since his knee surgery. I thoroughly enjoyed reliving some of my teenage years and I’m pretty sure everyone else had a good time too. What can I say; I was zoned in on the oldies! Martha Lynn was looking at one of the band members saying that he looked familiar. He was tall and had long gray hair; balding on top and didn’t look like he had a lot of ambition. Come to find out, he is now a neurosurgeon that performed surgery on Tony Morris’s Mother. Who said that we Baby Boomers would never be worth anything! And if you think this group is too old to stay out past midnight—some of us were standing in line at the Wal-Mart at 12:01 to buy a Wii! HA
