Rebel News
November, 2007

Thanks so much to Greg and Sue Ann for hosting our November meeting.   You did a super duper job guys.

Congratulations to Norm and Dianna.   They have a new addition at their home.   A 2004 Red Coupe.   Nice ride guys!

Corvette Expo in Knoxville-We certainly had an interesting trip. I-75 on Saturday was like a constant road rage.   SUV’s trying to take Big Smith out; Kaye having to pull Semi’s and Ford trucks out of her butt and Big Smith almost taking Tony Wilson out- adrenaline flowing everywhere!   When we stopped in Corbin to pick up Donald, Brenda, Randy and Tanya, Randy’s battery bit the dust so we had a little extra layover at the Shell station.   We were back on the road a lot quicker than Delta would have been back in the air!   The expo was in a nice place with plenty of vendors.   Not too much for us ladies but they had food so we were happy.   After the looking over the Expo, we went back to the hotel, which by the way was nice Greg, to cheer our Cats to victory.   Kaye and I did our cheers but we fell a little short.   We had a great time watching the game though.   Don Meiners was the man of the hour, 2 maybe 3 hours.   He was in bed with 7 women—7 loud women! We shopped a little on Sunday and Judy Meiners, Linda Holder and Sue Ann went on a helicopter ride.   On our way home, Dwayne starting having car trouble. We made it as far as Corbin before it went down for the count but that was a blessing. We made a call to Donald Clark and he and Randy Lewis came to the rescue in Donald’s work truck with everything on it but the kitchen sink. They brought a new fuel pump and Donald and Randy along with Don Meiners, Big Smith and of course Dwayne, we were back in business. You know we Rebels always take care of our own so we all stayed together, got out our pretzels, beer cheese and celery, sat on the side of the road and had munchies, we got the committee together and discussed the brochure we need to make, and we even made our own porta potty. We know how to make the best out of a bad situation but most importantly, we got our comrades home safely.

Boonesboro Boogie Nationals - Dwayne, Big Smith, Greg and Jerry Moss (glad to hear from you Jerry) attended. There were 900 plus cars and dusty dusty dusty.

Halloween Party-Some might say we’re getting old but I say we’re at the age where we just do what we want to do. We ate (Duh) and the food was great as usual. Good chillie, good Gumbo, good Brats (we still have the onion smell in the house to prove it) and the biggest hot dogs you’ve ever seen! (That credit goes to Danny and that’s as far as I’m going with that subject) We had Angels, Witches, Super Man, Maggie from the Valley, Steve Erkle, a tattooed rocker, UK Fans that didn’t do a very good job against Ms. State and Rebel Corvette members. Some watched ball games, some talked and laughed but everyone made themselves at home and I hope had a good time.

Brochure report - We had a meeting on the side of the Interstate and Danny brought a mock up of one to the meeting. It will be a tri-fold brochure with the front page having our club logo, and sponsored by Jeff Sachs. The second page will have our club history and a mission statement.   Pages 3 and 4 will list events and pictures of past events.   It will also have an insert listing club officers.   It looked great Danny.

Christmas Party-December 15th 6:30 at Cousins in Harrodsburg. The menu will be the same as last year since that was a big hit. Don’t forget to bring your bingo gift (not over $15.00) One per person and gift should be wrapped. Bring an item for the silent auction. The proceeds from this are used for our next year’s Christmas party. The cost will be $15.00 per person and we voted that the club will cover $10.00 of that cost for club members. Visitors are welcome. We will need a head count and your money at the next meeting.

Christmas gift - This is a surprise but the ones that were at the meeting Thursday night are aware.   Dwayne has homework to do for this project and we will let everyone know via e-mail.

New Year’s Eve - We need ideas.   If you have something you are interested in, check it out - cost, reservations and all that stuff and let Tony Morris know. We’ll get all the information together and present it either by e-mail or at the next meeting. It’s getting late so we really need to get things moving if we want to do something as a group.

Also-We need to be thinking about the Nashville trip in January. Who wants to go and we need to check out where we want to stay. The show is not using the Homewood Suites this year but we can still stay there if that’s what we want to do.

And now----what you have been waiting on-----nomination of officers: It was suggested that officers be elected for a 2 year term.   This would require a change in the by-laws but everyone agreed to serve another year.   I’m not sure what category I fall under since I have done PR for 3 years other than I conned Tony out of a LapTop if I took PR for another year.   We did have 2 new nominations and nominations will be open until a vote is taken at the next meeting:

President - Tony Morris
Vice President - Tony Wilson
Secretary - Judy Meiners
Treasurer - Juanita Augustson
(Sorry Juanita - you're a lifer !!)
Public Relations - Ann Wilson
(It won’t hurt my feelings if you want to nominate someone else)
Scrap Book - Judy Courtney
WebMaster - Brian Harney

The next meeting will be held at the Wilson’s on December 6th at 7:00.   This will also be a pot luck.   My plan is to have Country Ham and biscuits for the entrée.

November Birthdays:
Chester Ray - Nov 2nd
Martha Lynn Morris - Nov 16th
Kaye Hunt - Nov 27th

Keep Malcolm in your prayers for his safety in Iraq and for the people of Iraq because Malcolm is there.   For real — Stay safe Malcolm - we miss you.   Also for Dianne as she holds down the home front.

Remember Judy Courtney’s mother-she has been ill again.

Don’t forget to check your e-mails for info on the surprise Christmas gift we are doing and let Tony Morris know of any ideas you might have for New Year’s Eve.
