October, 2007

Our October meeting was held at Guaranteed Pest Control.   Our numbers were down due to sickness, relatives and wedding preparations. Don’t get excited-no one in the club is getting married (that I know of) but Judy C. is coordinating and catering her sister’s wedding for this coming week-end.

You know how they say you have to watch those quiet people — well, our newest member Dan is a perfect example. I’m not sure how he managed it but he won the 50/50 and the door prize. I’m thinking he might be disqualified at the next meeting. We went to Cici’s Pizza after the meeting. For some reason the side of the table facing the TV was in great demand. Unfortunately our cheering wasn’t enough to help the CATS out. I must admit that I was a doubting Thomas. When they got behind my first thought was “here we go again”.

After many years, hours, minutes and seconds of hard work, Sue Ann James has finally reached retirement.   Congratulations Sue Ann - you deserve it!!!

We decided not to do the Lexington Fire Parade this year which is on Oct 8th and will be over by the time you get the newsletter but just in case you were sitting around wondering when it was going to be and I needed filler for the newsletter this month.

Oct 12th,13th,14th - Boogie Nationals at Boonesboro

Corvette Expo in Knoxville - Lexington and Frankfort people will meet in the Lowes parking lot on Winchester Rd. (Hamburg) at 9:00 a.m. We will meet up with everyone else at designated places along I-75. Eat breakfast before we leave because we won’t be stopping for food until lunch time. We have 10 couples going. Should be a fun trip.

Halloween Party - Due to a ban on outside burning and a lack of interest at having the party at the Wilson Plantation - we have moved the party back to our house in the city. Oct 27th at 6:30 p.m. BYOB We will provide the hot dogs, buns and fixins and mixers. (Not that anyone will be drinking) HA.   Bring a dish.

Christmas Party mark your calendar for Dec 15th. Need a gift from each person for Bingo and an item for the silent auction.

We don’t have much going on the next few months so if you want to sponsor a drive or know of any event you would like to do, let Tony or Tony know. We’re open for suggestions.

Dwayne is going to get with Tony M. about getting a trip together to drive to the Quaker Steak and Lube in Ohio to meet with our friends, Jim and Judy and Ray and Sandy.

Our next meeting will be held on Nov 1st at the home of Greg and Sue Ann James in Richmond.   If you haven’t been there before, let Greg know and he will give directions.   This will be a pot luck so bring a dish.
