![]() Newsletter August 2007 We had another awesome meeting at the home of Linda and Dwayne Holder. We had a great crowd, which included 3 visitors. Don Meiners and Gunner took advantage of the pool. Dwayne is quiet the chef and the food that everyone brought was super. Thanks Dwayne and Linda for your hospitality. Our cruise in to Louisville went off without a hitch except for Kaye driving home with the strobe lights on or we think they were on. Big Smith was behind us telling us they were on and we all know how observant he can be! We ate at Mike Linnig’s. John Smith being the brave soul that he is had Turtle Soup and Alligator. The rest of us were more conservative with our meal but it was all delicious. We were glad that Brian and Margaret Harney joined us for their first Rebel cruise-in. Brian took some awesome pictures. It was hot, hot, hot but we managed to find a shade to sit in. John Smith and Tony Morris bought most of the 50/50 tickets but still didn’t win anything. Don Meiners would have if he had been there! Our next event is the National Corvette Homecoming in Bowling Green. I think we have 8 rooms reserved. According to the last e-mail I got from Tony M., some people are leaving at 10:00 a.m. on Friday the 10th and some of us at 4:30. This will be my first time to go but I know that Kaye and Martha Lynn are familiar with the book of etiquette for ladies attending car shows. How long we have to look at cars and when it will be appropriate to leave and go shopping. Other events coming up: August 18th - 6:30 at the Wilson’s. Due to some friendly persuasion from Tony M., pineapple burgers will be served. Bring a dish that will go with hamburgers. There will be a birthday cake. BYOB No gifts please-we just want our Rebel friends to help Amy and I celebrate our birthdays. Oh-we have a cranky ole lady that lives across the street in the white brick house. You can park on her side of the street but please don’t get in her grass. She prides herself on being the person that nobody on the court likes. September 1st- NHRA Trials in Indianapolis. We will meet at the Chevron Station at 10:00 a.m. Don and Judy say to be sure and bring a jacket because the temperature drops after the sun goes down. Don doesn’t recommend driving the Vettes because of parking. September 1st-Anniversary celebration at the Corvette Museum Sept 21st-Effingham Sept 29th-Octoberfest-To benefit the Markey Cancer Center-More details at Sept meeting. Oct 3rd-5th-Gatlinburg Vette Fest Oct 19th-20th-Corvette Expo-Sevierville-Not Knoxville Judy and Martha Lynn are already getting their heads together to plan our Christmas Party. He had some ups and downs last month but improving right now. Also remember Malcolm and Dianne. There is a chance that Malcolm will be going to Iraq for 6 months.
