July 2007

If you didn’t make the club meeting this month, you missed a great time.  Our host and hostess, President and Mrs. Tony Morris did an outstanding job.  They have a beautiful home and an awesome backyard.  Gunner certainly enjoyed the pool and slide.   Thanks Martha Lynn and Tony for hosting.  You are both very gracious hosts.

You all don’t know what you missed if you didn’t indulge in our cultural event last month.  Three couples went to Caneyville, Kentucky to see the musical, “At the Hop”.  Where is Caneyville, you say—we’re not exactly sure but Miss Magellan got us there and we certainly had a good time.  We stayed at the St. Claire Suites just across the road from Rough River Dam State Park.   They had a Diner Car at the Theater but it was already booked so we opted to eat in the more relaxed atmosphere; grilled burgers outside on the picnic tables. I have to say though that even in 90-degree heat, the cheese never did melt on Danny’s hamburger.  This was also one of the only times I have ever seen Kaye Hunt embarrassed.  While demonstrating a jerking motion that she experiences in their Vette, the lady at the ticket window happened to be watching and we think she thought Kaye was having a seizer.  You should have seen the look on that lady’s face!   We moved on down to our seats and it’s really a very nice outdoor theater.  The musical consisted of a band that was popular in Louisville in our teen years playing 50’s, 60’s and 70’s music.  It’s a reality check though that their heads were not fogged up by smoking “weed” but their reading glasses fogging up from the humidity.  They played our kind of music for several hours and we danced and remembered the good ole days.  The drummer played “Wipe Out” and to be honest, since he was our age or a little older, I was kinda worried about his heart but he was awesome!  They also had a guy on the guitar that was great.    Other people were dancing too and Amy, if I cease to have rhythm, please do not let me on a dance floor!   They have a topless night at the theater during the summer.  Get your mind out the gutter boys, it for convertibles.  It’s a very unique place and we’re trying to find a night when we can go back and hopefully more of you will join us and we’ll drive the Vettes.   We came back the old road through Leitchfield.  It’s a nice little town where they actually respect pedestrians.  We stopped at a roadside flea market and ate in Louisville before coming home.  It was a great weekend trip.

Upcoming events:
July 14th-Cruise in at the Home Depot in Louisville.  For those in Lexington, Winchester and Richmond, meet at Eastland Shopping Center at 3:00.  (By the pizza place)  We’ll drive to Frankfort and pick up the Frankfort people at the Shell Station right off the Interstate and then drive to Louisville to eat at Mike Linings.  ( I finally learned how to spell it Dwayne) then to the Cruise In. Contact Dwayne if any questions and Dwayne, if this info is not correct, let Tony Morris know so he can send out and e-mail with corrections.

br> The Indy trip for Sept 1st is still a go.  We will have more details at the August meeting.

August 10th-12th-Homecoming in Bowling Green.  Tony Morris has reserved some rooms.  Let him know ASAP if you want attend.

August 18th-It’s a celebration!  Or really just an excuse to get together and eat!  To celebrate my birthday and Amy’s birthday,  you all are invited to a cookout at the Wilson’s.  I’ll have more details at the August meeting.  Just need to know how many people are interested in a get-to-gather.

Sept 21st-Effingham

October 5th-7th – Vette Fest in Gatlinburg

Advance Auto on Nicholasville Road - Display of Cars - Dwayne wasn’t at the meeting so he’ll have to let us know about this at a later date.

Update on Judy Meiners’ son - He has changed Doctors and is doing really good.  He is gaining weight and is able to get out and do the things that he enjoys.  Let’s keep those prayers coming for Judy’s son and their family.

We also need to remember Bill and Wanda Hunt’s son.  He has had some health issues and several surgeries.  He is starting to recuperate but we still need to send out those prayers for him and Wanda and Bill as well.

Now, I’m fixing to talk about something that I know absolutely nothing about.  Something about having your car Dynoed and and LS1 engine.   Anyway, if you are interested, Tony Morris knows someone that will give a good deal on having this done to your car at a discount price if 3 or more people will have it done at the same time.  Tony had it done to his car and it gave him 40 more horsepower.   (Hope I’m not telling anything personal Tony)  I did find out that it has something to do with horsepower and torque.   Anyway, if you are interested, contact Tony and he can get the time set up.  And if this paragraph makes no sense to you, call Tony and he’ll explain it to you in man terms!

July Birthdays:
I forgot to list Judy Courtney’s birthday -June 20th.  Happy Belated Birthday Judy!
I also made another boo-boo.  I had Bill and Wanda Hunt’s birthdays reversed.
Bill’s birthday is July 18th and Wanda’s was June 15th.  Oops!
Sue Ann James 7/15

The next meeting will be held at the home of Dwayne and Linda Holder on August 2nd at 7:00.  I hope this information is correct Dwayne and Linda.  I think Big Smith is the person responsible for saying you all were hosting.

Remember, if you have an event or drive that you would like to sponsor, please let Tony M. or Tony W. know.  We are always open for suggestions.

Also, remember our sponsor, Jeff Sach's Auto Park, for your Corvette needs.
