April 2007

A big Rebel welcome to our new members-Dean Taylor and his 2002 Red Coupe and Brian and Margaret Harney and their 2000 Silver Coupe.

Kaye and Danny, Martha Lynn and Tony made a trial run to Maggie Valley last month.  The report is—a beautiful drive, quaint little town, the hotel is old but clean (if you are going to be expecting the Omni, you better stay home).  There are shops in Waynesville ladies and that is where the cruise in will be on Sat.   There will be a Tiki bar at the hotel on Friday night.  The hotel does have a restaurant.  One problem will be parking.  They are expecting over 300 cars and there is not parking for that many so we need to leave as early as possible on Friday the 25th so we can get there and reserve our parking spaces.  We will meet at Kaye and Danny’s house in Winchester between 8:00 and 8:30.  Kaye said she might even have sausage and biscuits for us to tide us over until we get about 10 miles down the road to eat breakfast.  Their final answer is—should be a great week-end.

NHRA week-end on Sept 1st in Indianapolis-Don has reserved 8 hotel rooms but I think all of those were spoken for at the meeting.  The tickets are $54.00 per person.  Don was going to order tickets on Wednesday, the 11th.  If you want to go, you need to contact Don Meiners as soon as possible.  We will leave town around 10:00 and get there around 4:00.  Don and Judy both say this is an amazing event

Makers Mark Ambassadors Day-April 14th.  Meet at the Chevron station on Versailles Road at 10:00.  And like you wouldn’t already know this-we will eat somewhere on the way home.

Derby Party-May 5th at Greg and Sue Ann James’s house.  The menu will be a little different this year.  Greg is fixing a country ham and Dwayne is frying a turkey.  So instead of Stamper burning up the grill, we will have to hold our breath that Greg doesn’t have any injuries from baking the ham.  There will be a Derby Pot so bring money.  Sue Ann says we can start coming around 2:00.  Drive your Vette – they have an awesome house and a safe place for the cars.  There was a sign up sheet that went around at the meeting for people to sign up for what they wanted to bring so if you weren’t there you can give Sue Ann or Greg a call to see what is needed.  BYOB-the club will furnish sodas.  Also going to have the Corn Hole game to play.

June 3rd-Karl Shannon Car Show-Benefits the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  The show will be located under the viaduct in the Rupp Arena parking lot.

C-5 Bash-April 28th.   This will be a day trip.  Meet at the Chevron station on Versailles Rd. at 10:00.  We will eat at The Montana Grill in Bowling Green before coming home.

C-4 Bash-May 3rd-5th.  Tony Morris will probably want to go to this to show off his modified C-4.

Our next meeting will be held at Cooking by George on Alexandria Drive in Lexington at 7:00 p.m. on May 3rd.
