January 2007

About 20 of us rang in the New Year at Cumberland Lake State Park.  We danced to Motown, some songs we didn’t even recognize and Red Neck Karaoke.

Sue Ann and I spotted 3 fat Raccoons that we made fatter by taking them our dinner rolls. Almost got to see 2 women fight but the one woman decided to beat up her boyfriend instead.  I’ll bet Pete is still picking confetti off his neck and Tony Morris is still tied up with that silly string stuff.  We had a good time.

Our Christmas Party was one of our best ever!  The food was awesome.  Thanks to Martha Lynn for setting this up.  Judy guided us through playing dirty Bingo and sometimes it got kinda dirty but to my knowledge, nobody threw any punches.  We made a little over $100.00 on the silent auction.  That got kind of competitive too.   On the drive home, the moon was a gorgeous full moon or else Kaye and I had too much to drink and it was Danny or Tony!    Anyway, we had a great party.

Jan 19th-20th-21st-The Nashville Auto Show.  We have 10 couples going so far.  This is always a fun trip.  We eat, we look at cars, we eat, we watch UK play ball, we eat, we shop and we eat.  Just doesn’t get much better than that!  They said that they had had a bigger response than they have had for several years, more vendors and a new FOOD vendor.  If you have not signed up to go, you need to let Tony Wilson know ASAP and he will see if he can get anymore rooms.

Due to lack of interest, I guess we won’t be having a Super Bowl Party.  The guys said that their teams had already lost in the playoffs so they didn’t care about watching it.  Who cares about which team is playing?  I thought we watched it for the commercials!

We will be doing the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Lexington on March 17th.  More info will follow.

Upcoming Shows:

C-5/C-6 – April 26th, 27th and 28th

Knoxville Expo – March 16th, 17th, 18th

Carl Casper Show-Last week-end in February

The Sorority that some of us belong to will be having a Valentine’s Dance at the Holiday Inn North on Feb 10th.  There will be a buffet dinner, DJ for dancing, and a silent auction.

The price is $45.00 per person.  If you are interested in attending, you can let Kaye, Martha Lynn, Judy Courtney or me know.  There will be a bar but unfortunately that is not included in the price.

Juanita was sick and unable to attend the meeting but bless her heart, she was still thinking of others.  She wanted Martha Lynn to make a motion on her behalf to donate $300.00 to God’s Pantry.  The motion passed.

January Birthdays!
Norm Honaker   Jan 27th
Malcolm Marsh   Jan 19th

Our sincere sympathy goes out to Norm Honaker and his family in the loss of his Mother and Linda Holder and her family in the loss of her Mother.   We also send out our very best wishes to Jennie Riddell.  We found out at the meeting that she was in the hospital.

A lot of our Rebel members suffered the loss of family members last year.
Let’s hope that 2007 brings more happiness to everyone.

Our meeting will be held at Guaranteed Pest Control (hope that’s okay Gary and Lucy) on February 1st at 7:00 p.m.

Don’t forget that dues are payable by March 1st !!!

I have enclosed calendars for Jan, Feb, March and April.
Notice there are a lot of free weekends.
If you have an event you would like to sponsor or have the club participate in, let one of the officers know.
