June 2006

Our June meeting was held at Jeff Sachs Auto Park in Frankfort.  We ate at a new mexican restaurant after the meeting and the food was great.   Good choice on the restaurant, Martha Lynn and Tony.

I omitted in the last newsletter that we voted to denote $300.00 to Hospice of the Bluegrass.   We feel that this is a very worthy organization and the money will be well spent.

The Derby Party was a huge success.  I’m not sure who the big winner was other than it wasn’t me.  Stamp didn’t trick me into eating the “oh, they’re not very hot this year” wings.  I caught him with tears in his eyes after eating one so that was enough for me.  By the way Stamp, has the hair grown back on your arms?  There was a little problem with a fire because of the grease in the burgers.  Also, I’ve been meaning to ask Greg, why did you fall out of that chair”?  We had lots of food and lots of fun.  Thanks, Greg and Sue Ann for hosting.

Next came the 50’s party.   Poodle skirts, peddle pushers (known as Capri’s today), rolled up blue jeans and white t-shirts were well represented.  We danced and we ate (DUH) and had a good time.  If we would have had a dance contest, the winners would have been Big Smith and Kaye.  That Smith can get down and boogie!  We were supposed to make ice cream sundaes for dessert but I guess people thought drinking and eating ice cream didn’t mix.  Go figure that one!  Anyway; Tony, Amy, Damon and Little Gunner are still eating ice cream.  Thanks to everyone that came and we hope you all had a good time.

Branson, by the time you get this newsletter, we will have made our trip to Branson, Missouri.   If you didn’t get an emergency call in the middle of the night you know we were good or at least didn’t get caught.

Our Christmas Party has had to be rescheduled.  Lucy was not able to get the same club house that we did last year because of new ownership.  It will now be at Cousin’s Restaurant in Harrodsburg and we will probably play our fun bingo game after we eat. More info will follow.

Our next meeting will be held at Jacobson Park at 7:00 p.m. on July 6th.  We will drive somewhere after the meeting to eat.

Our sympathy goes out to the Donald Clark family in the loss of his father and also the Danny Hunt family in the loss of his father.
