![]() Newsletter February 2006 We want to extend our deepest sympathy to Tony Morris in the loss of his Father, to Martha Lynn in the loss of her Mother and to Sue Ann James in the loss of her Mother. We need to also remember Judy Courtney as she undergoes tests. Our Rebel family is going through some really stressful times so let’s all continue to pray and support each other. Nashville, Auto Fest Car Show, back in January with only a day’s notice, several of us decided to make a Nashville run to this show. Kaye burned the phone up getting us reservations at the car show rate, we threw some stuff in a bag and off we went. Now most people that take a week-end trip to Nashville would go to a show and a nice place to eat and all that classy stuff. We ate at a Truck Stop on the way down, went to the car show, then to a Sports Bar to watch UK get beat by Alabama and then to the Goodwill Store to shop. But hey! We’re Rebels and we can have any way we want to! I would to say you are welcome to the ones that left Nashville later than we did and avoided sitting still in traffic for over an hour because of a horrible wreck.   Not to mention names John and Judy, Linda and Dwayne and Smith and Marthy Jo. Super Bowl Party - Thanks so much to Bill and Wanda Hunt for hosting this. We had lots of goooooood chili, munchies, desserts and our very own Mick Jagger. Speaking of Mick Jagger. Girls and boys --- we have finally succeeded in corrupting Norm. I am here to tell you that Mick Jagger has nothing on Norm when it comes to dancing. I had to check on Diana at the meeting on Monday night to see if she was able to close her mouth yet!! And then — Norm won the money. Before Norm shocked all of us, we were discussing some of the bad calls the referees made. They never called a foul when one guy pushed the other and they never called a technical on any of the coaches when they were yelling at the referees. We didn’t realize that there were any women that played in the NFL and we didn’t realize that people actually cared about the score other than to see who won the pot. Thanks again Bill and Wanda for your hospitality. One more thing—we also found out that Wanda is quite the artist. She has some awesome award winning paintings and photographs that she created. Upcoming Events: Feb 18th - Golf Course for UK Ballgame – The team might not be good but the food at the golf course is excellent. Meet at 1:00 for the 1:30 tip off. The ambassadors can dip their own bottle. We had a great time. Tony Wilson is supposed to sponsor but I’ll let him and Kaye fight that one out. April - C5 Bash May 6th - Derby Party at Greg and Sue Ann’s Sometime in May - 2nd Annual Prom at Tony and Ann’s Something to think about - The Leeds Theatre in Winchester is going to start having Friday Night Live. Kaye will get more details and see if this might something we would be interested in. Our Cruise In, we voted to have it on August 19th. The time is tentatively from 4-8 or 5-10. Tony Wilson has already gotten some sponsors. We will need everyone’s help to make this a success. Corvette Homecoming, Kaye has talked with Joe Prewitt about helping out this year. They have a lot of activities planned. They have rooms reserved at the Holiday Inn for $87.00 per night or the Baymont for $64.00. Branson Show - we will discuss in April. Need to clarify the mileage competition for this year. The miles will be calculated to and from meetings and club events only. Your everyday driving does not count. You will be given a sign in sheet at meetings and events and you are to write down if you drove your vette and how many miles from your house. Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 2nd at Jeff Sachs Auto Park in Frankfort at 7:00. And speaking of Sachs, don’t forget that they sponsor our club and we need to remember them for our Corvette needs. February Birthdays: Ken Carey 2/15 Reminder: 2006 dues are due by March 1st. I will be sending an updated members list out after our March meeting. Norm wanted me to publish his new e-mail address: normhonk@hotmail.com |
