On the corner of Main and Ann Streets, Frankfort, Kentucky, circa 1961, photographer unknown.   Apparently, this was taken during the infamous 4:30pm traffic.
This awning is where the Farmers Bank building is today, which was built in 1970, which you can see in the FHS 1971 Yearbook, here.
On this corner was Younts Sporting Goods, as a I recall.   Folks used to duck in there to get warm while waiting for the Christmas Parade to start.
Next was the Taxi Cab Stand, as it was called.   The sign in the foreground says "No Parking Taxi Stand".
Next was the Knotty Pine Bar and Grill, named for the knotty pine paneling inside.   Next was Kemper Body Shop. Three doors down the street was the Vatter House Hotel, which later housed the law office of Steve Bolton, not sure what it is today.
On the opposite side of the street, where CarsonWagonLit Travel is now, was B&H Gulf gas/service station.   The sign is barely visible, standing on the street.   Next was Hugh Locke's White Signal, an early version of the fast food restaurant, with limited seating, similar to a White Castle.   Just beyond that, in the same building where Dr Rush has his dentist office, hangs a prominent sign for The Morris Arcade, which at one time had a clothing store and other things.
